Correctional Services

The Department of Correctional Services was established by a resolution of the Board of Chosen Freeholders of the County of Gloucester, adopted on April 23, 2003, at Woodbury, New Jersey.

The primary purpose of the Department of Correctional Services is to provide for the safety of the citizens of Gloucester County.  By removing the repetitive, violent and dangerous offenders from the community and holding them within a secure detention facility, we provide for the protection of the general public.

Administration is composed of a number of support and operational units including:

  • Fiscal Management
  • Food Services
  • Medical Services
  • Personnel and Payroll
  • Repair and Maintenance
  • Special Investigations Unit

The department is also responsible for the custody, care, discipline, training and treatment of all inmates legally committed to our county correctional facility.  Rehabilitative services and programs are provided to try to ensure the success of those incarcerated upon their return to society.
